The PennyWise ETF Portfolio Report
Help in managing a core investment portfolio cheaply and effectively over the economic cycle.
This weekly portfolio report reviews the technical and fundamental outlook for major local and international ETFs listed on the Australian share market.
Each ETF under our coverage is provided a rating based on three criteria: trend performance, relative price strength and fundamental valuations. We use this information to help construct two "enhanced index" core and satellite model portfolios.
The Core Portfolio covers a smaller range of ETFs and is intended for those that do not want to trade too frequently. These include:
- SPDR S&P/ASX 200 Share Market Index
- SPDR S&P/ASX 200 Real Estate Investment Trust Index (A-REITs).
- US S&P 500 equity Index
- ishares MSCI EAFE (non-US developed markets) equity index
- MSCI Emerging Markets Equity Index.
The more opportunistic Satellite Portfolio chooses from a broader range of international ETFs (Europe, Japan, emerging Asia and the "BRIC" ETF) as well as Australian sector ETFs covering the financial sector, energy, metals and mining, and industrials.
- ishares Europe 350
- ishares MSCI Japan
- ishares S&P Asia 50
- ishares MSCI Bric Index
- Aii S&P/ASX 200 Fin.ex-A-REITS
- Aii S&P/ASX 200 Industrials
- Aii S&P/ASX 200 Energy
- Aii S&P/ASX 300 Metals & Mining
Both portfolios are "total return" in nature, meaning we will seek defensive exposure when market conditions dictate.
Using industry standard portfolio weights, for example, the average annual management fee for an ETF-based balanced fund - blending cash, listed property, local and international equities - could be as low as 0.25%.
